Rick Ross Responds To Being Snubbed By The Grammy’s [VIDEO]

Although he’s been passed over by the Grammys for the second consecutive year, Rick Ross is taking his latest snub in stride.

The Miami lyricist was shut out of this year’s nominations, despite the success of the certified-gold release Teflon Don and street smashes like “(B.M.F.) Blowin’ Money Fast” and “MC Hammer.” When MTV News caught up with the MC at Power 106 ‘s Cali Christmas Friday night, the boss maintained he doesn’t have any beef with the Recording Academy, and gave props to his peers who received nods.

“Everybody that was nominated this year for the Grammys, I congratulate them, and I feel like everyone deserve it,” Ross said.

Despite being overlooked for the second year in a row, Ross shrugged off the issue, saying that snatching a trophy is another goal he could focus on — if he felt like doing so.

“As far as me, I feel like it’s just something else for me to work towards, you know, if that’s something that I’m really, really trying to achieve,” Ross added.

The “Super High” spitter chose to instead focus on the banner 2010 he’s wrapping up, which includes a #2 debut for Teflon, collaborations with a colorful lineup of game-changers from Kanye West to Erykah Badu, a top-five Hottest MCs ranking and The Source magazine’s Man of the Year title.

“Other than that, I had a wonderful year and I really couldn’t ask for no more,” Ross said.

While Ross was a major player in the rap game this year, missing out on trophies has become a recurring theme for the mic-ripper, who briefly stirred up controversy when he reportedly left the 2010 Soul Train Awards early after losing an award to Eminem. However, Ross maintained that his premature exit was due to issues with the event’s production and not his loss to Em.

“I been going to award shows for a long time and I’ve never had a problem with who won. I’m happy I’m recognized,” Ross recently told The Source. “We were in the trailer, going over these particular [performance] issues [with the show's producers]. Out of respect, we came back out there to give them a reaction to the nomination. They gave the award to Eminem. I applauded. Big record. That wasn’t the issue. Like I said, the things we requested weren’t met.”
