Nicki Minaj Says Her Latest Wigstyle is Inspired By Marge Simpson

Nicki Minaj’s monster ‘do has some unlikely inspiration. The Pink Friday rapper has recently been rocking a puffy coif that towers above her frame, switching from hot pink to green to blonde on any given day. But although she’s known for coming up with animated looks, even the head Barb was shocked that she’d take fashion cues from a cartoon character.

“Never did I think I would be rocking the Marge Simpson,”

Nicki told PEOPLE of The Simpsons matriarch’s famous blue hair. “But you know what, now that I am [wearing] them I realize that she was cutting edge and before her time. So shout out to Marge.”

The “Moment 4 Life” hitmaker is always surrounded by a wide variety of wigs and swaps them out depending on her mood.

“My wigs are ever changing in height, width, color, size. They make me feel happy. Wearing them makes me feel that I can be a different person every day and that is kind of exciting,” she explained.

But it’s not always an easy choice.

“Sometimes I wake up in the morning and I am like, ‘This is a high-top day’ or ‘This is a bob day,’ but when I get my clothes on that’s when I see,” said Nicki, adding that she’s not above rocking the same wig twice. “Of course I wear them more than once. Wash it and rotate, and it is good as new.”
