Christina Aguilera paid tribute to her idol, Etta James, as the blues legend was laid to rest at a Los Angeles-area church today. Dressed in all black, the pop star belted out James’ classic “At Last,” sharing some heartfelt words with the congregation.

“I have to first of all say what an amazing honor it is for me to have been welcomed here today, invited here, to pay tribute to the great Ms. Etta James,” said an emotional Christina. “I went around the world throughout all my career saying that Ms. Etta James was my favorite singer in the whole wide world.”

Make way for M.I.A. Pop’s resident rebel is coming back with a new single and video. “Bad Girls” is set to debut online on Monday, January 30, at 2:30 p.m. EST. Recorded in Miami, the Danja (Timbaland, Madonna) production will hit iTunes the next day. The song was originally included on her 2010 mixtape Vicki Leekx.

An accompanying video by Romain Gavras, who directed the controversial “Born Free,” will premiere on February 3.

M.I.A. will also join Madonna during her halftime performance at the Super Bowl on February 5, where they will perform Madge’s new single “Gimme All Your Luvin’,” also featuring Nicki Minaj.

Kelly Rowland couldn’t be happier for Beyoncé. E! caught up with the “Motivation” singer at the Hpnotiq Harmonie and Live Louder kickoff party last night in Hollywood. A beaming Kelly was overcome with joy when speaking about her BFF’s three-week-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.

“She is just more precious than a diamond. She’s just so stunning,” gushed Kelly. “I’m so happy for my sister and her husband. She’s beautiful.”

The new parents are in heaven.

“She’s an incredible mother. I’m so incredibly proud of her, so proud of her,” added Kelly. “She’s in mommyville and I’m so happy for her and her husband’s in daddyville, and the baby is very beautiful.”

The ladies of SWV are making a comeback. The ’90s R&B trio, known as Sisters With Voices, will release their first studio album in nearly 15 years this spring.

I Missed Us, the follow-up to 1997’s Release Some Tension, is due April 10 via eOne Music/Mass Appeal Entertainment.

The first single, “Co-Sign” produced by Lamb (Beyoncé, Monica), is picking up spins at radio, while members Taj, Lelee, and Coko have been in the studio with Bryan-Michael Cox and Jazze Pha finishing the album.

“It’s a great feeling to be back recording together again!” said the ladies in a statement. “Something special always happens when we come together.”

SWV released its debut album It’s About Time in 1992. The album went multi-platinum and spawned R&B classics such as “I’m So Into You,” “Right Here,” “Downtown,” “Weak,” and “You’re Always on My Mind.”

Teyana Taylor tackled the tough questions during her visit to Power 105.1’s “The Breakfast Club.” The 21-year-old singer-actress, who was recently released from her contract with Star Trak/Interscope, addressed rumors of signing with Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Toni Braxton is on the mend after experiencing some painful “flare ups” resulting from her Lupus condition.

The 43-year-old singer checked into a Los Angeles hospital on Monday. “I wanted to say thanks to all my fans for their support, as I have been experiencing some flare ups with my Lupus which has me in the hospital for a few days,” she told TMZ.

Despite the initial scare, she is doing fine.

“I wanted to clear the record before rumors started, and will totally be fine as I’m blessed to having an amazing family for support.”

Braxton, who revealed her battle with the disease last year, took to Twitter to assure her fans that she is OK.

“Hey guys! I’m sure you’ve heard rumors about me being in the hospital, they are in fact, true. I’ve been here since Monday but I am fine!” she tweeted. “Just a lupus flare up, but I promise you all I am ok! Love you all! Thanks so much for all of your support!”

TMZ explains that Lupus is a condition where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissue. It can target different body systems including joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, the heart, and lungs.

And just like that, she was gone. After giving birth over the weekend at a New York hospital, Beyoncé and her newborn made a quick exit in the middle of the night without a single photographer snapping a photo of them.

The 30-year-old singer quietly checked out of Lenox Hill Hospital after delivering her daughter Blue Ivy Carter on Saturday night.

According to the New York Daily News, a procession of vehicles with blacked-out windows carrying the famous couple and their child departed from the hospital’s side gate in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The operation was performed smoothly and swiftly so that no paparazzi could capture a photo of the family.

Two black SUVs left the hospital’s loading dock at 1:30 a.m. Soon after, a van parked on a nearby corner backed into the same loading dock before the gate closed, reopening minutes later. The vehicle drove out and headed north on Park Ave.

One of the two SUVs blocked traffic so the van would not be stopped. The second SUV pulled in behind the van to prevent anyone from following the Carters as they returned home with their baby.

“Immediately, security personnel began leaving the hospital,” said one witness, describing the exit as “very precise, very military-like.”

Beyoncé checked into the hospital on Friday night using the alias Ingrid Jackson. Blue Ivy was reportedly born in an executive suite on the sixth floor, near the neonatal intensive-care unit.

The hospital shot down rumors that Beyoncé and Jay-Z paid to close off the entire maternity wing.

“The suggestion that the couple paid $1.3 million to rent an entire maternity floor is simply not true,”

said Lenox Hill Hospital Executive Director Frank Danza.

Fourteen years after topping the charts with their hit “The Boy Is Mine,” Brandy and Monica reunited in the studio to make history again. Both ladies flew down to Miami to record with hitmaker Rico Love on a follow-up to their Grammy-winning duet, which spent 13 weeks at No. 1 in 1998.

“We have Both Been Blessed Beyond Measure..14years later,” tweeted Monica, while Brandy responded, “I love you so much Mo❤thank u!”

Monica’s seventh album New Life and Brandy’s as-yet-untitled RCA/Chameleon Records debut are both due this spring.

The best-selling R&B group of all time, Boyz II Men, joined Hollywood royalty by receiving the 2,456th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday (Jan. 5). Babyface, Michael Bivins, and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis were on hand to honor members Shawn Stockman, Wayna Morris, and Nathan Morris at the induction ceremony. Even fourth member Michael McCary, who left the group in 2003 due to health issues, returned for the occasion.

“I can’t explain how happy I am. This is one of the happiest days of my life,” said an emotional Shawn to his friends and family. “The beautiful thing about this is that some of these people I haven’t seen in about 10, 15 years and it’s even deeper than the scar itself. It brought true love and true friendship back together.”

“It’s the best feeling in the world to 20 years later be standing here in front of everybody and be appreciated, which means that we did our jobs and the job that we did is memorable.”

The trio, who released its 20th anniversary album Twenty last fall, will embark on a 17-city European tour in Berlin on January 13.
